Gayle Mitchell

Gayle Mitchell, one of the first women to break through the “felt ceiling” of the previously male-dominated world of casino gambling gurus, is now regarded as one of North America’s leading experts on casino gambling.

Gayle’s commitment to educating the gambling public began almost 20 years ago, when she walked into a Las Vegas casino and experienced for the first time the thrill that comes with winning even a small bet. She made up her mind then and there to learn every game in the casino, and a short time later resolved to make a career out of sharing her insights with other gamblers. She had always considered herself to be a good teacher – she believes in keeping things simple – and decided that she would commit herself to showing newbies how to become knowledgeable, intelligent gamblers.

Gayle started her own publishing company, and her first book came out in 1997. Today she is the author of seven books, seven EBooks, and a set of five Tips booklets, and has presented many seminars on casino gambling. Currently she teaches Learn to Win Programs with other leading experts at GamblingTeachers.com. The site is a player-friendly Free Gambling Learning Center offering 300+ online lessons for popular casino games plus Gambling Teachers Blog. Gayle also operates www.gamerisms.com, which is a games glossary site for sport, casino, skill and video game players.

“It’s a fact that less than 2 percent of casino players know the profitable, correct strategies and/or rules for most casino games,” Gayle says. “Our group of career teachers and writers are working to improve that statistic.”

Bonus Slots Update: Magic Mask, 777 Amigo Road, Magic Garden, Frog Prince

20 November 2001

The fun and exploration continue as we present the newer Bonus Slots with Post #12:

1) Magic Mask: This game sports the usual poker symbols plus several magic icons such as a rabbit in a hat, a dove and hand-palm cards. It's a Mardi Gras and magic themed game with the top jackpot symbol being a cartoon magician, paying 2-5000 coins times the bet for lining up one to five of these symbols on an active payline. Also, the 'Magic Mask' symbol appearing on the second, third or fourth reels subs for all symbols except the "magician's assistant" that is a scatter pay symbol. Second screen bonus feature is triggered when three Magic Masks appear, scattered anywhere on the middle reels at which time you are shown several masks in a grid. You select masks that disappear revealing coin amounts until two matching amounts appear for a bonus win. Special masks hidden in the bonus screen will jack up awards 2X, 3X or 6X the bonus amount. This Magic Show is presented by Aristocrat.

2) 777 Amigo Road: A Southwestern theme prevails for this slot that is no frills, high hits and boasts frequent respin bonus rounds. The sharp video graphics include sombreros, chili peppers and palm trees. Three '777' symbols scattered on the screen start the bonus round where you receive five free games and the '777' symbols become wild while substituting for all other symbols. With its steady stream of mid-range hits, you can stretch that gambling bankroll, my amigo.

3) Magic Garden: King Arthur, sorcery, magic, wizards, witches and things that go bump in the night are set in medieval England via this nine-line game by Aristocrat. Three or more 'Magic Mushrooms' anywhere on the screen results in the scatter pay, but the main feature is the 'tree eyes' symbol. If this symbol appears anywhere on reels 2, 3 or 4 it becomes a wild symbol. The Magic Mushrooms and Tree Eyes symbols land frequently and the accumulated wins make this a great high-end slot game. No additional charge for the 'magical' graphics.

4) Frog Prince: This 15 payline configuration accounts for a terrific hit frequency. The main character is a frog wearing a crown and from there, a 'magic wand' or 'magic book' will begin the 'Magic Wish Bonus'. You choose a magic book to determine the number of free spins and then tap the magic wand to reveal a multiplier amount. Three frogs trigger the main screen bonus event titled 'Kiss the Frog' whereupon you are prompted to pick a frog who is begging to be kissed. Appropriately, the tune "Jeremiah was a Bullfrog" is cranked up at this time. You can accept the bonus amount presented or attempt up to five times for a higher amount. The number of picks is determined by the number of symbols that started the bonus round, e.g., five symbols rewards you with five chances of landing the highest bonus amount. Now I've got that tune in my head, I have to say thanks to IGT for "was a good friend of mine...".

There's more to come next time with lucky post #13.
